It's a no-nonsense Mac RSS feed reader with almost every feature most users need, and it's. I don't think NetNewsWire measures up to Reeder or Lire, but that doesn't mean it's not great. NetNewsWire cons: Considerably less customizable than Reeder. I just read one (or mine) and easily nuke the rest right away. Does all the basics (and a lot of non-basics) exactly right. So I’ll see four or more NYT articles that are the same but not all posted at the same time and were posted in business, technology, science, etc. It doesn’t come with any revolutionary or breakthrough idea (it’s not Headline or Reeder) but it does its job just fine. It’s simple, offers a few yet useful features and it’s no doubt geared towards the people who already know and love NNW for Mac. It’s especially handy if you read a bunch of, say, NYT feeds as they cross post a lot. NetNewsWire for iPad is straightforward and looks good. In fact I read my feeds almost exclusively using these topic filters, and only at the end look at the remaining unread. But that's really it: you pick the sources and NetNewsWire rolls your newsfeed in reverse-chronological order.Yes, smart lists. There are some helpful "Smart Filters" at the top (Today, Unread, Starred), and you can make folders to group the different sources, aka feeds, that you follow.
